Nickname

This girl at the park likes to call me Snaggletooth because of my very imperfect smile! I asked Melanie if dogs can get braces, but she said no. That's okay with me cause I like to be unique...there'll never be another Jaxson!

Now on to more serious business. Why does no one ever leave me comments? I am starting to get a condition over it. And I know you people are out there reading. I have eyes and ears everywhere so don't think you can hide from me. My self esteem is dropping swiftly so if you read my blog frequently (or even infrequently) drop me a line saying what you think! Crate Luv

So I am starting to get comfortable with the whole crate thing. Up to now I have gone in reluctantly when Melanie has to leave. When she was home, I would go in to see if any treats were hidden there, but would come right back out. But last night I made a HUGE step forward...I actually went over to it, went in and laid down. It must have shocked Melanie cause she immediately started saying "good puppy, good puppy". So I got up and went over to her for a treat! I think she wanted me to do it again, but I laid at her feet instead. Hours later as I was wishing she would go to bed, I was having trouble getting comfortable, so I went back over to lay down in it again. This time Melanie smiled but didn't say anything. But I saw her whisper to Teresa so I know was happy about it! I slept there for a while until Melanie said it was time for bed. I think me and the crate are going to get along from now on!

Holiday Recovery

I am very sleepy today from the extended weekend of turkey fun! Melanie left me really early and then I promptly fell asleep in my crate. I must have slept for like 3 hours before my rommie Teresa let me out for a lunch time stretch. The rest of the afternoon has been spent chewing on my favorite bone and sleeping some more. I expect Julie home at any minute to let me out of my crate. She'll probably want to take a nap, but I hope she takes me to the park instead!

Rain, Rain...

I don't like the rain! When we got up this morning I thought we were going to go to the country again, but it was raining so Melanie said I had to stay home! Plus she made me go out in the rain to do my business....I really didn't want to and cowarded under her legs to keep dry. Eventually I decided to get it over with but it wasn't fun! Later, I put on my "Bad Boy" Muscle shirt....I'm a lean mean doggie machine! I even put on my mean face for the picture!

BTHO tu

Today is the big game....I got up early and put my lucky scarf on. I was all ready to go, but Melanie said she couldn't get me a ticket to the game! Apparently, they don't sell dog tickets! So I settled for watching the game in my crate on the TV at home. I got a special treat to eat and plenty of padding for my halftime nap. It was a really good game, but the lucky scarf wasn't lucky enough. After the game, Melanie took me to the park to play. Atila was there and we played really hard! I was growling at him, but I really wanted him to keep playing. Everyone said I looked really mean when my teeth stick out of my lips, but they know I'm just a love pug at heart! Anyway, it was really fun and I hope we get to go back tomorrow!

Turkey Day!

So, my house has been smelling good all day! Melanie got up really early and was cooking something. After a while she gave me a taste and it was really good! Then we loaded up the car, even my crate, and headed back out to the country. I tried to climb in the back to get some more turkey but Julie was holding on to me really tight! When we got there I chased Michael in the back yard and played Frisbee. I snuck into the house a couple times but mostly I stayed outside. That where my friend Willow stays too...She's a really big dog right? We got pretty friendly as you can see!!! After dinner (I had some too!) I took the humans for a really long walk....They kept saying something about making room for dessert. I raced Michael up the really long driveway when we got back home. I could have beat him but instead I let him win. After all I want him to play with me again! I still don't really get what this "Turkey Day" thing is but if it means getting a special treat in my Kong than I am all for having it again tomorrow!

Meetin' the Family

So today I got started by meeting my Aunt Clara (or is she my great Aunt?). I'm not really sure how humans decide who gets to be called what!?!? But Melanie says I am going to meet my Aunt Katie and my Grandma & Grandpa. She says they are really nice but I am nervous! Anyway, we met Clara at the park for doggie happy hour. All my favorite friends were there and I had a GREAT time! After that Melanie said I had to take a nap in my crate to rest for Turkey day tomorrow. I'm not real sure what that is, but everyone seems excited about it. I hope it means I get to chase a turkey!

Zebra Shirt

So I think I am in the clear from getting in trouble with that cake this weekend cause Melanie took me back to the park today. All my friends were there including Roxie (pitbull) and Atila (Mastiff). Those two really love to fight so I have to act as referee! Everyone thinks it's so cute that I bark at them while they play. Melanie tries to get me to play with them, but I'd rather play chase than roll around on the ground. Lucky for me, another dog showed up that really liked to "hunt" me. She would lie low in the grass and then lunge at me as I walked by. This started a chase around the park. Now I am really tired so I think I will try to go to bed early if Melanie will let me.

Bedtime

I like to go to bed at 9 pm SHARP! But Melanie thinks this is way too early! I know I could go upstairs without her and maybe sleep with Julie, but instead I park myself on top of her until she gives in. Even with my best efforts, the best I can do is 10:30 pm. And then in the morning she likes to sleep in when I want to get up and play! Doesn't she know that my schedule is the RIGHT one?!?!?!

Puppy time out

So today I got in trouble...big time. Melanie took me to the park and I ran over to this group of people having a picnic. I just wanted to introduce myself, but Melanie made me leave them. We walked around a bit and eventually some other dogs came to play. I was having a great time running and playing with this little greyhound puppy, but her brother, a dachshund was really protective, so I decided to chase after some other dogs for a while. They ran back towards the picnic people so I followed. Their owners called them back, but I kept going. When I got there I found 2/3rds of a birthday cake on the ground, so I dug in face first. I heard Melanie calling me to come but I ignored her. I had a face full of icing by the time she got to me. The next thing I know she put me on the leash and we had to go home. I think she is still kind of mad at me, but I am trying to be really cute so she will forgive me. I mean when am I going to ever have the opportunity to eat cake again?!?!?!

Chew on this

Hey Bos! Just wanted to thank you for the tips on frisbee retreival. Melanie always calls me back when we play fetch, but sometimes I don't listen. If I bring it back right away then I don't get to chew it. So I like to run right by her make a loop and then lay down. This way I get to chew on my toy until she comes over! I really love to chew things! Sticks are a personal favorite although there doesn't seem to be many laying around at our park :-( I also like to chew leaves (they run away from you when it's windy), rocks, acorns, grass and sometimes Melanie's fingers. Last time I went to the park there was a really fluffy dog whose ears looked really tasty, but I couldn't reach them. My friend got a bite of them though and said they were great! Roxie is a pitbull with a "bad girl attitude" who wears a spiked collar! But she is actually really nice and I'm thinking of asking her out. Her owner is really cute too according to Melanie...maybe we can double date!

Cheese!

Don't I have the cutest smile? Melanie snapped this picture of me in my new sweatshirt. According to my sources it will be cold in Amarillo when we go there for Christmas break. And since it has been a little cold here in Aggieland, I thought I would try it out. Gotta make sure I can still move and groove! It works great although I don't really enjoy the actual process of putting it on.

2:42 AM

It was Judgment Day in Aggieland
And tenseness filled the air;
All knew there was a trip at hand,
But not a soul knew where.

Assembled on the drill field
Was the world-renowned Twelfth Man,
The entire fighting Aggie team
And the famous Aggie Band.

And out in front with Royal Guard
The reviewing party stood;
St. Peter and his angel staff
Were choosing bad from good.

First he surveyed the Aggie team
And in terms of an angel swore,
"By Jove, I do believe I've seen
This gallant group before.

I've seen them play since way back when,
And they've always had the grit;
I've seen 'em lose and I've seen 'em win
But I've never seen 'em quit.

No need for us to tarry here
Deciding upon their fates;
Tis plain as the halo on my head
That they've opened Heaven's gates."

And when the Twelfth Man heard this,
They let out a mighty yell
That echoed clear to Heaven
And shook the gates of Hell.

"And what group is this upon the side,"
St. Peter asked his aide,
"That swelled as if to burst with pride
When we our judgment made?"

"Why, sir, that's the Cadet Corps
That's known both far and wide
For backing up their fighting team
Whether they won lost or tied."

"Well, then," said St. Peter,
"It's very plain to me
That within the realms of Heaven
They should spend eternity.

And have the Texas Aggie Band
At once commence to play
For their fates too we must decide
Upon this crucial day."

And the drum major so hearing
Slowly raised his hand
And said, "Boys, let's play The Spirit
For the last time in Aggieland."

And the band poured forth the anthem,
In notes both bright and clear
And ten thousand Aggie voices
Sang the song they hold so dear.

And when the band had finished,
St. Peter wiped his eyes
And said, "It's not so hard to see
They're meant for Paradise."

And the colonel of the Cadet Corps said
As he stiffly took his stand,
"It's just another Corps Trip, boys,
We'll march in behind the band."

Then heaven's pearly portals opened,
Hosts of Angels showed the way,
For that Fighting Texas Aggie group
On that final Judgment Day.

When more Aggies came in view.
Twelve dressed in Bonfire gear
Walking arm and arm, and singing
Of the School they hold so dear.

Twelve Aggie voices said "Howdy"
To the keepers of the Gate.
"Working hard we just lost track of time,
We hope we're not too late."

"It's the Fighting Aggie Bonfire Crew,"
St. Peter said, ‘Behold."
They're ready to light up Heaven,
With their courage and faith so bold".

"I would often watch them building,
That Stack so large and high,
And surely knew the time would come
They would build it in the sky."

And so the twelve came through the Gates,
St. Peter said, "Don't fear,
You are just in time for Roll Call"
One by one, they answered. . . ‘Here.'

Whatcha you lookin' at?

Just wanted to give a shout out to my main dog in CT...Bosley! What's up dude? Wanna be pen pugs? Today Melanie took me out with a frisbee to play. I didn't really get the concept, but I hear you are an expert. Care to share any wisdom on the subject? I mean how do you possibly carry that thing back. Every time I tried to bring it back, it dragged on the ground! Then I tried to carry it the other way and it totally blocked my view! I ended up running the wrong way!

T-shirt attack

Melanie put this shirt on me that was WAY too big. I fought really hard to get out of it, but stopped long enough for this picture. Maybe if she gets one that actually fits me I will enjoy wearing it. It got really cold today so I am thinking I might need something to keep warm. In the mornings I like to snuggle under the covers, but what's a guy to do during the day?

Country dog?

Tonight we went out to see Rose and Michael who live way far out in the country. I was really interested in chasing after the horses, but for some reason Melanie kept calling me back. Doesn't she want me to have fun? So I settled for playing fetch with Michael...he's a good thrower! He was a little too hyper for me, but we got along okay. Then I spent a good portion of time "mowing" their grass....it tasted really good! Too bad their dog Penny wasn't around cause we could have had a great time. Maybe I'll move to the country after college. A dog needs room to run!

BTHO ticket pull

Melanie and I got up real early...like 6 am! I thought it was weird that she was leaving early, but much to my suprise I got to go too! There were so many people and tents there....probably like 50 tents or more. And people had BBQ grills, tv's, couches and radios...it was really cool. Everyone thought I was "so cute" and "so soft". Melanie kept me on a tight leash, but I still got to smell tons of new scents and got plenty of petting. The line moved too slow for my tastes, but who can complain when you are getting tickets to see A&M BTHO tu! I get to go right???

Chemistry is Fun

So this weekend was not as bad as I thought, but I missed Melanie so much! I was very depressed right after she left and couldn't stop going to the door in the hopes that if I sat there whining Melanie might come walking back through it. Finally I decided that I could stay in my babysitter Kim's lap and take a nap while I waited. We did some studying Friday (I really love chemistry!) and played outside a little bit, then watched the Godfather Part II. I love that movie. There are no cute dogs in it though, so I slept through most of it. Then we went to bed!

Saturday we watched Aggie football! In the last game my lucky scarf stopped being lucky, so this time I wore it for the second half, and I think it worked! We didn't win but we played much better than I expected. So my lucky scarf is still lucky. I really enjoy sleeping on the back of the couch squished between all of the pillows. Very cozy! The rest of the day I helped Kim study and then we played outside some more. The rocks, bugs, acorns and other little things on the ground outside are very appetizing by the way. Kim left later that night, but then Melanie and Julie came home and I was the happiest dog in the entire world!

Puppy sitting

So this weekend, Melanie is abandoning me to go to Norman for the OU game. Lucky for me she got an A+++ puppy sitter to come over, Kim! We are going to have so much fun playing together. I bet I can get her to pet me as much as I want. Maybe she will even let me stay up later than my bed time! And treats...don't even get me started on the treats I am going to get....Whoo hoo for puppy sitters!

Doggie Happy Hour

So me and my friends like to get together around 5pm for a little social hour. This month's location is Reserach Park, which is GREAT! It's got loads of grass (and a hill for rolling down), a lake, sidewalks and plenty of trees! There are always different dogs there but I am starting to get to know the regulars. Of course after all that running I get pretty tired, so here I am taking a break from the action, but keeping my eyes open in case something goes down without me!

A case of the Mondays

Mondays are so rough! I play hard all weekend with everyone and then they up and leave me this morning. I had to entertain myself for a few hours. I was howling hoping they would hear me, but they didn't. Guess I will have to try harder next time. Then when Melanie came home, we walked with Teresa to school. We made our way over to the Bonfire Memorial and then I got to play off leash, while Melanie looked around. Of course I was exhausted by the time we got there so I layed down in a mud puddle to cool off. I don't think that made Melanie happy, and all it earned me was a bath when we got home! I told you Mondays were rough!

Play dead

This is me doing my new trick. I learned it from the Aggie football team. I dressed up special in my maroon scarf to watch the game. At first I thought the scarf was lucky cause we kept it close, but we all know what happened after halftime. Oh well, I guess there is always next year.

My new friend...

Maybe! No, that's her name, geesh people! Melanie's friend Doug came to research park with her and another friends dog Sweet Pea. That's right, I played with TWO ladies today! Maybe jumped in the lake and I don't think Doug was happy about that. I thought about it, but I decided not to go swimming. Why swim when you can play with loads of dogs on dry land! I got lots of chasing time in this way. I just love to be chased...it's so fun! I also met the largest dog that I have ever seen...it was the size of a small horse according to Melanie. You could have stacked three of me up and I still could have walked underneath this dog! It was HUGE! And after the park, I fell sound asleep for the car ride home.

Ladies and Gentlemen...

introducing Jaxson-Murphy the cutest pug around these parts (am I getting the Texas accent down?) I started life up in the DWF area, but it wasn't really the "cool" place to be. Lucky for me, I was rescued by my new owner, Melanie, and started my new life in Aggieland. She really loves me a lot and I return the favor by following her constantly. I like my other roomies too, but if you ask them I only have eyes for one person. I keep telling them that rubbing my belly is the key to my heart, but their arms must get tired cause they never pet me long enough! Aggieland is full of adventures so check back frequently to see what a day in the life of a pug is like. I promise it is NEVER boring!
