what does P...A....R...K...spell?

Today we went to the park...it is so great that we can go around 6 and it isn't dark yet! That way Melanie gets all her work done and I get to play outside when it's a little cooler. Plus I found out that all the "cool" dogs go late so now I get to hang out with the "in crowd". Life is grand!

dodger's win

So the Dodger's won....Melanie was a little sad...she kept mumbling something about a grand slam and stupid closer...hmmmm

People eat dogs if they're hot?!?!?!

So Melanie and Teresa took off to Houston today for an Astro's game. I'm not too sure what the excitement is, but Teresa said something about Dodgers and hot dogs. Anyway my pal Erin came over to feed me and play with me. And then she took me back to her place to play with Sophie again! It was so fun running around playing chase! Anyway after that she took me back home and put me in my crate with a special treat...a frozen PB Kong...yum! So now I am just anxiously awaiting Melanie and Teresa's return. It is likely that only one of them will be happy as they were rooting for different teams...so I have resolved to cheer up the loser with lots of hugs and puppy kisses!

Vacuum Monster

I don't like the vacuum at all! It is a VERY scary thing. The second Melanie gets it out I start to cower and whimper. But once she turns it on, I FREAK out running circles around the house barking at the top of my lungs. Melanie then scolds me and says "no barking"....but she just doesn't realize how intimidating this machine is! Sometimes when I am just passing the place where it lives, it lurches at me and I have an episode. Course Melanie never sees the vacuum start it so I'm the one that always gets in trouble!

Mr Frog Returns

The frog came back! He must live in my side yard! It's funny that I can never find him on an average day, just when it has rained. This time I found him in the middle of the yard and proceeded to chase him! I finally caught him by gingerly holding him in my mouth. Of course I didn't bite down...I didn't want to kill my new friend! But Melanie made me put him down and come inside....later when I went back out I couldn't find him anywhere! I guess I must have scared him or something. Or maybe he was playing hide and seek with me...hmmmm....guess I won't find out until next time it rains!

Can we go play NOW?

This is my new friend Sophie who is Erin's roommate's dog! Yesterday we met up at the park for some play time and had a blast! As you can see in the photo, we were WAY to busy to be sitting for a portrait. I hope we can meet up again soon as I could really use a new friend to play with at the park.

Easter Break

The long weekend started with an overnight playdate with Bruno (Shelli's puppy). At first I think Bruno was scared of me...but that's understandable as I was quite hyped on energy from being in the car for a couple hours! After I calmed down a bit, he warmed right up and we proceeded to play hard for the rest of the evening. The only break was when Melanie and I went to pick up Outback take out and the lady gave me a milkbone! Except for that, Bruno and I played (a little rough according to the humans) and chased each other! Luckily, Cane the cat left us alone as I haven't quite recovered from my run-in with Jazzy the cat. The next morning we got up and played some more before Melanie and I headed off to Amarillo. I pretty much slept the entire 6 hour trip except for potty breaks...I haven't played so much since I was a wee pup! Even after we arrived home (and I rediscovered the joy of doggie doors), I was still tired and took another nap. But after that, the real excitement of Easter set in as we prepared to dye eggs. I was pretty intrigued with the whole procedure and even managed to get my paws dirty trying it out At the end, I was very satisfied with our efforts and I have to admit they looked awfully tasty! Saturday night we celebrated with the traditional Kilbase, potato salad and rolls dinner. Unfortunately, I didn't get anything from the table, but Melanie did make me a special stuffed Kong. Then we sang happy birthday to Katie and ate birthday cake. The weekend ended Sunday when the whole family came over for lunch. I got lots of petting and attention! But it did make me really tired again...I practically fell asleep standing up before Melanie scooped me up and took me to bed. Today we are driving back to Aggieland and I plan to sleep the entire trip!

American Idol

Tonight me and the roommates watched American Idol. I am a fan of Queen so it was like the perfect episode for me! But I have to agree with Teresa on this one....none of the contestants did very well with Rock and Roll. They just didn't get the anger and rage that Rock is all about!

Treat Algorithm v 1.1 beta

So whenever Melanie or Teresa go to the kitchen, I immediately feel this pang of hunger deep in my stomach. It's like I am instantaneously hungry! So I stare them down to see if they are getting food. As soon as the fridge opens, I dive into my crate in anticipation of a snack. That's right, I willing surrender my freedom for food! Then I peek out to make sure they saw me being a "good boy". Sadly, this ploy only works about 7% of the time. The rest of the time I exit the crate without satisfaction. I then proceed to mope around looking depressed. This technique has about a 3% success rate (mostly on Teresa). My treat getting strategy still needs some refinement to get me up to an overall success rate of 25% but with hard work and full effort I think I can achieve greatness!

Should have been named Jet-fuel

I met a great new friend at the park this past weekend. His name is Diesel and we had a great time wrestling each other! It was quite hot at the park so this allowed us to stay in the humans shadows where it was a little cooler. Every once in a while we would take a time out for water and to catch our breath. Then another dog joined us in our game. He was a little boxer puppy who was larger than both of us combined! Overall it was a great way to spend a beautiful afternoon.

Could it be....

I think I might be a Chi-a-pug or as some humans call it a Chug (chihuahua/pug)! Does this mean you can water me and give me a funky hair cut like those chi-a-pet things? I asked Melanie but she said not exactly :-) She did mention that if the summer heat gets to bothering me that she might consider giving me a buzz cut though! I think I might look funny like that but if it keeps me cool then I'm okay with it....what do you all think?

Run Run Run

Yesterday Melanie took me on a car ride out to Rose's....and lucky me Michael was there to play with me! We ran and chased each other and it was great! Finally I got thirsty and he got me some water while we rested in the shade. Then we ran and frolicked some more. I wish we could go out there more often!

San Antonio

This weekend Melanie and I headed west to see the Alamo...or the next best thing...the family! It was great to explore a different, and much larger, house. My favorite thing was their sectional couch. You could practically see the whole house from this one vantage point. Plus it was really comfortable for napping! My least favorite thing was Jazzy the cat. She and I didn't get along to great and I had to hide out with the humans for protection. Sometimes she would jump out of nowhere and scare the begeebers out of me! It got to the point where I wouldn't even pass her within 5 feet, which left me trapped in parts of the house unable to follow Melanie around. And the highlight of the trip was when Julie let me take a nap with her. While she dozed off I explored Chase's room and found the most delicious thing I have ever tasted...a gumball! It was so yummy and sugary and chewy. Course Julie woke up and found me eating it right when I got it to the sticky stage! And that was the end of my special treat.
