Vacation from the Vacation

I have loads to post about my camping trip, but to be honest I am EXHAUSTED right now. As soon as I catch up on my naps I'll post the whole long adventure...stay tuned cause it's REALLY GOOD! Oh and Bos, your tips came in handy but I have to disagree about the sleeping bag...there was plenty of room in there for me and Melanie!

What is Camping?

Okay, so Melanie keeps mentioning that we are going camping next week. I have no idea what this means. I mean "go" is a great word that I love so I want to say this "go camping" thing is going to be fun. On the other hand, "go to the vet" wasn't so pleasant. I can confirm that this "go camping" thing involves bringing my dog food, bowls, sack of treats, my doggie bed and my sweater/jacket. Any doggy want to venture a guess as to if I am going to like this adventure or not?

The Best Thing EVER!

Last night the greatest thing ever happened to me.....I got to taste a wonderful substance called "ice cream". You see Melanie and I were driving around when suddenly a low blood sugar hit. The closest thing to us is a local frozen custard place so we swung in for a snack. Seeing my cute face the people at the place said, "Ahh...he's so cute! So it'll be one puppy scoop and what for you?" Melanie promptly said, "puppy scoop...what's that". Apparently this establishment provides one free small vanilla cup to all it's doggie customers. It was the single best thing I have EVER had...and that's no embellishment. I highly recommend that all my blog reading doggie friends immediately start begging for some from their respective humans. You won't regret it!

My new family

I have decided to adopt a new family after spending two days at Won, Jenny and Ashley's house. They are loads of fun and seem to really love me. While Melanie was interviewing (I don't know what this means), Ashley petsitted me. We spend loads of time running around in the backyard and also in the house. She still scares me sometimes, but overall she is much calmer than last time I saw her. Also one night, we teamed up to annihilate the evil bubble monsters. You see these bubble monsters are varied sizes and clear so their kind of hard to catch. It really took the two of us to catch them all. I took the low ones while she handled the higher ones. Also I used my mouth, but she preferred her hands. After an hour or so we managed to wrangle most of them into submission thus ending the threat.

Also another great plus to their family is snacks. You see Ashley is always getting snacks. You know, cookies, fruit, brownies, etc. AND she's low to the ground so I can almost grab it right out of her hand, but Melanie told me that's NOT good so instead I just followed her closely hoping she would drop it. Here I am showing my mad obedience skills to Won. He wasn't impressed enough to give me a cookie, but Ashley did sneak me one later on.

"Can I have a cookie too....Look, I'm sitting nicely....Pretty Please!!!"

Dreaming

July 8, 2007

So when I dream, I am very active in my sleep. My tongue sticks out and I tend to kick my legs spasticly. I also "run" in my dreams and so my whole body twitches a little. This always makes Melanie smile. She wonders what I dream about specifically, but as I have told her time and again, a dog's dreams are very personal and I won't share them.

Happy 4th of July

So I was getting kinda nervous about this whole America's birthday thing. I mean last year all I remember is it being really hot and after dark, really loud! Not to mention the close encounter with a sparkler I had. Anyway, this year Melanie and I were invited to her aunt and uncle's lake house near Austin. This actually scared me even more....I mean lake equals water and water equals swimming of which I am not a fan. But anyway, we woke up early and headed over for some fun. To my pleasant surprise, all the rain we had the past few weeks meant that the lake had developed some kind of quality problem. Thus the lake was CLOSED for business on the one single holiday where millions of Americans enjoy BBQ, water activities and fireworks. While I rejoiced and celebrated by chasing my friend Marley around the yard, Melanie contemplated that the whole thing was a conspiracy perpetuated by the lake patrol so that they would have less work to do. The whole day was loads of fun, except for when I accidentally tried to pee on a cactus. It proceeded to poke me and thus ended my desire to mark every thing in the yard. Towards the end of the afternoon, we went down all the steps leading off the cliff to check out the boat ramp and dock.

As you can see, the park of the ramp that connects the stairs to the boat dock was completely under water by at least 25 feet or so. The lake came up so fast that the dock wasn't raised quick enough and thus, the only access until it goes down is via a swim. While Melanie's cousin floated over to the dock on a tube to lift up an electric cable out of the water, I proceeded to sit on the first step submerged under water. It was quite cooling. Melanie stepped down onto those steps as well and held my belly as I swam around a little. Eventually as Moriah was coming back towards us, she pushed me out towards her and I proceeded to swim back with her. Now before you get worried, I am still alive and kicking and no severe problems developed from swimming in the "bad" water. This further solidified Melanie's position that it was all a conspiracy anyway. Overall it was a GREAT day and I am actually looking forward to going back another day when we can all swim safely. Melanie even promised to go in with me which should be fun.
