Edit--I am a bad boy

So Melanie is making me, as part of my punishment, denounce my earlier claim of being a good boy. I had an accident that wasn't really an accident yesterday evening. That's right I did it on purpose to express my displeasure at being left alone, out of my crate for an hour while Melanie went to dinner. When she discovered it she was very upset at me :-( I tried to get on her lap and apologize but she would have none of it and banished me from the couch for the evening. So it is with regret that I inform you, my virtual fan club, that I, Jaxson Murphy am a BAD boy.

Am I a Good Boy?

So I have noticed that humans often refer to their dogs as "good boys" or "bad boys". And often they don't limit their comments to their own dogs but to other human's dogs. Melanie usually calls me a good boy but I'm humble enough to admit that I have been referred to as a bad boy on more than one occasion. Most people at the dog park call me a good boy. But there are some majorly misbehaving dogs that frequent there so perhaps I am just more towards the good than the bad side of things. After much deliberation I have decided to make a list of all my good qualities and call for a vote. Post your comments and let me know if you think I am a "good boy" or a "bad boy"...and I don't mean the pop culture bad which is actually good.

1) Do my business outside almost always
2) Keep grass tidy and mowed by munching on it often
3) Mulch all fallen limbs/sticks from the yard
4) Never chew on things except my preapproved dog toys
5) Take baths even though I don't enjoy them
6) Eat all my vegetables at dinner time
7) Snuggle with my human every day
8) Let my human sleep to the decent morning hour of 8 am
9) Wear my seatbelt on car rides
10) Do many tricks including Sit, Down, Stay, Shake, Fetch and Circle
11) Pre-wash the dishes after they are loaded into the dishwasher
12) Bark loudly at all door knocks to alert my human about trouble
13) Accept treats from little kids without jumping on them first
14) Referee all scuffles at the dog park objectively

End of Summer Vacation

So Melanie and I have been enjoying the last moments of summer vacation as school starts Monday. Now since Melanie isn't taking classes this doesn't much affect her but we are celebrating anyway. The only problem is that the traffic has been TERRIBLE for the past week or so. Thus our celebrations have been somewhat limited. She did buy me two new toys yesterday though and I thoroughly enjoyed them both. The first is shaped like a nut and bolt and tastes minty fresh! The best part is that the nut actually unscrews off the bolt and provides me a nice challenge. The second toy is called "The suspicious chicken" and is soft with lots of legs and wings to chew on. Melanie was a bit disappointed with this toy as it claimed to stand up to strong chewers but I had a nice size hole in it within minutes of playing with it. Regardless of her feelings, I LOVE IT! I even slept with it last night :-)

She's BACK!

Teresa is finally back! I missed her so much that when she came in yesterday I thought I was imagining it. So I ran and jumped on her to make sure she was really there. This made me so excited that I ran circles around the living room at high speed until she finally sat down and petted me. The hours after that were spent trying to make sure Melanie didn't feel abandoned and yet still keeping tabs on Teresa so she doesn't disappear again. Boy, a pug's work is never easy!

Friends 4 Ever

This is my new best friend Ashley! She is just the perfect size to play with me. Plus she always gives me lots of treats! Yesterday she came over for some pizza and playtime. We had a great time together but it made me really tired. Her mom told Melanie that Ashley is always tired after playing with me also.

Doggie Jail

So lately Melanie has been taking me to various coffee shops around town in the evenings. She brings along a bowl of water for me and a book for her. Then we sit and people watch. I get more than a handful of "he's so cute" and sometimes I pet or two. But mostly we just sit and enjoy being out of the house. Melanie took this picture of me at just such an establishment. This coffee house has a nice patio area with benches, tables and a few chairs. There are trees all around and they are strung with little twinkle lights to add ambiance. Ah, the days of summer are disappearing fast so it is nice to take a few moments to just relax a little.

Catching us up

Not much been happening around here. Julie came to visit and we hung out a bit. Also we went over to the park a few times. It was on just such an occasion that Melanie's friends Won and Jenny came with their little girl Ashley. Isn't she cute! While she practiced for the Olympics I was down at the water's edge contemplating jumping in to cool off from the heat!

Wanted--Lap for Nap

Sometimes you just need a lap to sit in. And if it's comfy perhaps a little nap while you are there. Today Julie's friend came over and I just crawled up in her lap for a nap. Of course Melanie and Julie were shocked, but I think it was pure jealously. What can I say!
