Thanksgiving

Wishing all my blog readers a very very very happy thanksgiving. Eat lots of turkey and pecan pie and be thankful for all those humans who keep us dogs living in ultimate luxury.

Early Thanksgiving Surprise

Guess who showed up at my doorstep.....Grandma and Grandpa!!!!! I think they are only visiting one night but is it still AWESOME cause I get extra treats and lots of love. Plus they are coming back in a couple days to give me even more! And they are bringing Julie and Katie with them! Then comes the BEST PART OF THE YEAR....a full day of delicious smelling turkey in the oven (and sneaking tastes when Melanie isn't watching!)

A return to normalcy

Melanie is finally done with all her after-work classes at work stuff. Which means, we are back to our 3 day a week daycare visits and long quiet evenings spent snuggling. Melanie is so happy to have her evenings back that sometimes she gets frustrated when I try to get some lovin'. Luckily I am very persuasive and DON'T take no for an answer. Currently, I am typing this while lounging on the back of the chair in total relaxation. Melanie is enjoying her Friday by catching up on some tv shows. Ahhhhh....total bliss!

Confessions of a Peculiar Pug

Melanie is an alarm clock snoozer. Every morning the alarm goes off and she reaches over to snooze it for 5 minutes. I, however, am NOT a snoozer, so I immediately jump up ready to face the new day. I walk around on the bed stepping on Melanie in my excitement. She does not appreciate this and tries her best to ignore me. After a minute or two I realize she isn't getting up and I settle down albeit not fully relaxed as before. This process tends to repeat several times, and each time I get more excited about waking up! Eventually I turn to kisses and laying on Melanie's chest in an effort to speed her to getting out of bed. I guess I am just a "morning dog"....even though after getting up and going outside and eating breakfast I prefer to lay back down for a morning nap.

Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head (and Body)

It is raining....all day. I thought it might let up by the time Melanie came home from work, but I was denied! Thus, out we tromped to do our business. When we came in, I used Melanie's bedspread to dry off. She did NOT appreciate it!

VEEP and Other Campaign Stuff

Quick update from Jaxson 4 Prez Campaign headquarters....

I have accepted Bosley's request to be vetted for VP. Let's hope there are no "skeletons" in his closet. I expect the process to take several weeks and hope to come to you the people/dogs soon with an official announcement.

Also, I have taken under advisement Bruno's desire to rid the world of those pesky squirrels. I currently have a team researching the issue and am receiving daily updates on the matter.

New Plush Toy

Melanie and I spent our sunday afternoon napping. She thinks she is getting a cold, but I really just wanted to sleep all day. Anyway, after we woke up refreshed we hit the pet store with my Jax Cash. Melanie bought me a new plush hedgehog toy to replace my old one. I played with it in the car all the way home!

The Presidential Pet Saga Continues

This article seems to indicate that pets and presidents go hand in hand. However, there is no mention of what breed of "puppy" the new first family is getting. Therefore I remain skeptical.

However, the Brits have a view point I can thoroughly agree with. You see they think puggle (that's me!) is a good dog. Maybe Melanie and I should move overseas?

Dogs Unite

Today, I come to you, my loyal readers, to announce my candidacy for the next President of the United States. I realize that the humans just elected a new president last night, but I feel that us Dogs are underrepresented in the new White House Administration. The new guy doesn't even HAVE a pet. He did promise his kids they could get a dog when he won, but we all know politicians rarely keep their promises. Therefore, effective immediately I am working to mobilize dogs and dog owners to make sure that in 2012 the dogs of the world have true representation. I am open to your contributions regarding policy, both domestic and foreign, economic issues, security and general governing. You, the dog, can contact me directly by leaving a comment on my blog (which you are reading right now!). With your help, we can change the world into a more Dog Friendly place for all of us!

Jaxson Murphy's Campaign Platform:

Naptime should be mandatory, with minimum time periods. No maximums will be enforced. Humans who interrupt naptime will be punished with yard clean up duty.

A wide variety of HOT meals will be served 6 times daily. Menus will be posted one week in advance and are subject to change based on YOUR personal preferences.

Visits to the dog park will occur a minimum of 3 times a week, but NO dog will be forced to socialize. Owners will be required to pick up after us or face $10 million fines.

I will work with manufacturers to improve techniques to produce more non-destructive plush toys. Squeakers will be mandatory in all toys and manufacturers will be rewarded with tax credits if they put extra squeakers in.

Treats will be placed in automatic feeders so dogs can access them at their leisure. I will encourage owners to place multi-treat feeders in their homes, and give businesses economic rewards for doing the same in public places.

All stores, workplaces and restaurants will be deemed pet-friendly effective immediately. Eating establishments shall create dog-friendly menus. Kids menus can be used as a template.

I will work with Congress to enact legislation to allow all dogs onto furniture and beds. The softness hierarchy will become a universal standard to ensure comfort across all dogs and all states.

Read my lips....NO MORE VET VISITS

Sister's (Plus) Weekend

I had surprise visitors this weekend! My grandma and my aunt Julie came to visit. And they brought my grandma's sisters (or Melanie's Aunts), Kathy and Clara, with them. And then Melanie's cousin Liz (daughter of Kathy) showed up along with my aunt Katie (sister of Julie and Melanie, daughter of grandma). Plus there were other random people that stopped by including Crystal and Sarah (friends of Liz), Mary (Liz's sister and Melanie's cousin) with her husband Kevin (who totally rocks!). Then just when I thought the apartment couldn't hold any more people, my grandpa waltzed in! Needless to say it was a CRAZY weekend of fun culminating with a visit to UrbanMarket houston, where Melanie's cousin Rebecca (mom to my friend Marley to dog) has a booth. I'm exhausted just remembering it.
