Memorial Day in Austin

Melanie and I went on a roadtrip for the holiday and drove to Austin. Katie and some of her band friends were there for a contest and my grandpa was chaperoning. So we had a wonderful day laying in the grass and getting lots of petting! It was a little hot there, but by sticking to the shade and drinking lots of water I managed to keep cool enough. After a long day of making lots of new friends, I was really tired. I took a nap while Melanie went out with everyone for dinner. I then had a short spurt of energy when she got back to the hotel, but it was short lived as I slept the entire 2 hours home!

A water dog?

Today was SO hot that Melanie and I waited until almost 6pm to go to the park! Luckily the combination of that and Memorial day weekend didn't keep other dogs from joining me there. In face I had a great time playing with a new friend Bailey. She was really into the water thing which I am usually not. But this time I ventured in just up to my ankles and it was great. After several attempts I ended up going all the way in until my chest was wet. I still don't feel comfortable leaving my feet and swimming, but getting wet seems okay. And best of all it kept me cool and hydrated which is very important in this heat.

Long week

It has been a really long week! With Teresa gone that means I am stuck in my crate without a break when Melanie goes to work. I know she tries to come home early so I don't have to spend so long in there, but this week she was really busy. So it has been a week of long naps broken up with short wakeful periods of play. At least it is a long weekend so hopefully she and I can go to the park!

Twist and Shout

This is my new toy to replace my Kong toy which finally bit the dust. Actually I chewed is so much that I broke off the end of it! Anyway Melanie got me this Twist n Treat toy which accepts regular treats or spreadable treats. At first she had to leave it open a lot so that stuff would fall out for me when I rolled it along the ground. But soon I got so good at it that she tightened it up and I had to really work for it. We haven't tried PB in it yet, but I'll let you know how that goes when we do.

Star in the making

Today Melanie and I went to the official grand opening of the Pets Mart store here. There were tons of dogs and people there. We took a tour of the vet office inside which was pretty cool. We also signed up for lots of give-aways and also got some freebies. My favorite thing though was the picture booth. I got to have my portrait taken and put on a button for Melanie to wear proudly. I even smiled! She is taking it to work with her to remind her to come home early every day to play with me...wink wink.

The Return

Teresa came home yesterday...I kind of missed her so I am glad she returned. But the bad news is she is leaving again soon. And this time it's for the WHOLE summer! Guess I will just have to keep my blog updated so she can keep up with adventures!

Sonic

So yesterday Melanie and I went to Sonic for dinner...okay she where there and I got to ride along! Anyway, this place is pretty fun to go to. There is always a lot to look at while waiting for our order. So when the lady came with the food she fell instantly in love with me (and who wouldn't). She asked if I could have a special doggie treat and I immediately went into begging mode. Melanie said yes and I got a doggie biscuit treat! This is now my favorite restaurant!

Haiku--Morning

I would like to share another Haiku for my loyal readers. My first creation is here for those who don't remember.

Morning

Warm sunshine coming in
the windows by my soft bed
my only thought...breakfast

leap up and look round
human still sleeping nearby
lick the face till awake

catch air as I hit stairs
out in yard for a pitstop
while coffee is made

run inside quickly
skid to a stop near food bowl
some patience I need

here comes the food
seems like days since my last meal
so delicious and yummy

I gobble it down
as quickly as possible
chewing a little

grab my toys and play
wrestling them on the ground
showing them who's boss

Happy 'til I spot
evil shoes and socks nearby
who take my human away

Oh well I think softly
After a morning like this
a nap would be nice

Playdate

Yesterday I went on a play date with Maeby (Doug's dog). Melanie took me over there after work and we ran and chased each other all over the yard. I just LOVE going over there! After a while we sought shelter in the shade while catching our breath. I wish I had another dog to play with all the time. Maybe I can convince Melanie to adopt another dog. I think I would like it to be another pug though...or at least something more my size!

Welcome to Summer

The semester here has wrapped up and all the college kids have left town. I am kind of sad about this as some of my best doggie pals will be leaving for the summer :-( I think the saddest thing of all is that my roommie Teresa is leaving me for 3 whole months! I am going to miss her so much! I asked if I could go with her and she said no cause I have to stay and keep Melanie company. She said that Melanie had BIG plans for this summer and that I would have fun, but I'm not too sure. Guess I will have to see what these "big plans" are!

Field Trip

Today Melanie and I went to opening of the new PetsMart store! It is so cool in there! They have tons of toys and treats...I almost went into sensory overload! We stopped by the groomer and got my nails trimmed. Usually this is a very scary process but this time Melanie got to hold me so it wasn't so bad. I trembled a little bit but overall I was "such a good boy" according to Melanie! To reward me, she let me pick out a new toy so I chose this one...the Lamidoodle! It is soft, fluffy, leggy and squeaks...what more could a dog ask for!

No Adventures

Sorry for the long break on updates but Melanie is really busy right now and won't let me borrow the computer very often! I practically had to wrestle it away from her just to type this short message. Don't worry though after this weekend she should be back to her usual self which means I'll actually have some adventures to recount!
